Science Fair

Our Super Scientist Gavin wanted to be in the science fair at school. We looked through some science books for kids and he came up with his idea to make homemade spinners and test them out. The easiest part was the experiment, the hard part was putting together the poster board!
Gavin won 2nd place for the first grade. He came home and told me he won a "red ribbon." I said, "oh, cool..." I didn't realized that he had won 2nd place!! Gavin is a good student and science is his favorite subject. Great job Gavin!! Please note that Gavin typed out all the words on the computer and punched the letters into my Cricut...
Gavin making his homemade spinner from cardboard and a toothpick. We also made one out of a plastic sour cream lid, a bottle cap, and a paper cup. Then we did a test to see which one spun the longest.

Gavin at the Eye Doctor

Gavin has been complaining about his eyes hurting and not being able to see the board in school. So... off to the eye doctor we went. He was so cute sitting in the big chair.

He was fascinated with the equipment and special machines. This hi-tech doctor takes digital pictures of the inside of the eye. It took a while getting the picture. It is hard for a 6 year old to stay still, keep your eyes open, and just keep staring "at the little green do." After about the 7th try, it worked. Gavin thought that was pretty rad, and so did I!

What's the verdict? The doc says that Gavin's eye are good and no need for glasses. HOORAY! I am praying that he gets Brent's genes in the vision department and not mine. I have been in glasses since the 7th grade!

Snow Man Song

Gavin's class recently had a music program and parents were invited. It was a cute little program about snow and wintertime. Gavin didn't forget to dress up in his super awesome skeleton gloves! And yes... he still wears his skeleton shirt every week to school. Classic!

I was having trouble in blogger land so the video of the snowman song is on the previous post.

The Birthday Boys!

We have had a week of birthdays. 1st Brent's birthday and then Giles'.

Today we celebrated Giles' first birthday! We had his party a day early so Grandma could come. Giles' is so fun! He just started walking this week. He can even stand up without holding onto anything and walks around. Once he falls though, he just stays down and crawls the rest of the way. He is so happy and smiles all the time. We sure love you Giles!
Giles is sitting in his special chair opening presents. He didn't really care too much about the presents, but Gavin and Grace sure loved it.
The birthday boy got a little "Cozy Coupe" for this birthday. Everyone was in love with it! We crammed Grace and Giles inside while Gavin pushed them around. Fun for everyone, right?
Giles' loved his egg-free cake! The cake was actually pretty good (I was a little surprised considering it lacked eggs). It was crumbly... perfect for a one year old!
Giles basically ate his whole mini cake. He loved every minute of it!!
Brent's birthday was on the 12th. We had the G-parents over for dinner and the party. Gavin decorated the house. He even put streamers on Brent's night stand and alarm clock! He loves birthdays and spent hours decorating and getting ready for the party!
The hottest present at the party was the Nerf gun! This rapid fire Nerf amazed Gavin, Brent and even Grandpa!
The best part about it for Gavin is that it means that he basically has a new toy! He can't wait for his next Nerf War!

Here is a video of our birthday boy!
